Chemical Peels – Lactic Acid
Now that it is winter, it is the perfect time to get a chemical peel – What better way to make your skin look brighter, fresher, and more luminous after spending the summer in the sun.  Chemical Peels are great for improving wrinkles and fine lines, sun-damaged skin, uneven skin tone and helping with mild acne scarring.
Here at Emilee’s Salon, I use Pevonia’s Lactic Acid Peel.  This is just one of many peels that can be used and the one most preferred.  Lactic Acid is a milk derivative which has the reputation as a gentler alpha hydroxy with great results. Over time, it can smooth the tone and condition of your face and reduce or remove mild marks and scars.  Lactic Acid peels are best done in a series.  While you will see a brighter, more luminous result of your face after one peel, it is best to have a series of 6 peels, one every 5-7 days, to get the optimal result. 
Lactic Acid peels are very mild and generally cause no pain.  There may be some mild stinging or slight redness after the peel.  The skin does not actually “peel” like stronger peels that you would receive at a dermatologist’s office; there is a possibility of mild “sloughing” and/or drying of the skin.  However, you must avoid the sun and wear sunscreen after a peel, as your skin will be sensitive. Chemical peels are best performed during the winter and early spring months as most people are not having lengthy exposure to the sun.  

Before receiving a peel, you should discontinue the use of  any sort of prescription topical medication for at least a month...This is because oftentimes topical medications will slightly thin your skin, greatly increasing the likelihood of irritation or higher levels of sensitivity.

The Chemical Peel offered at Emilee’s start with a facial cleansing, application of lactic acid peel, hand/arm massage, neutralizing gel application, scalp massage, soothing mask, leg/foot massage, finished up by the application of moisturizer with SPF 15.

Tallahassee 2011 Top Salon Contest!

Emilee's Salon would like to thank each and every person who nominated us to compete for the title of, " Tallahassee's 2011 Top Salon!" We are honored to have made it this far in the competition and are looking very forward to the final round in February.
